Rules of Competition (ROC)

Please be advised that the Junior Boy/Girl Rules of Competition (ROC) have been finalised. Please see attached for your reference. Also attached is a summary of the changes from 2009 for your reference. You will note in this year’s ROC that the Victorian Code of Conduct for Community Sport (Code) at section 8.9 has been included.

The Code has been adopted by the FFV Board of Directors and as such have been implemented into the ROC.

The Code has been ratified because:

Every person in Victoria has the right to participate in community sport which is safe, welcoming and inclusive. Equally everyone plays a part in ensuring their actions and behaviours are supportive of these values.

State Sporting Associations and clubs also have a responsibility to ensure participation in any community sport event is free of any anti-social behaviour both on and off the field which prevents others from taking part and getting active.

The Victorian Code of Conduct for Community Sport outlines behaviours which are expected to be followed by every person involved in community sport, as well as identifying the behaviours which must not be tolerated.

The Code provides the opportunity to make a positive impact on community participation in sport and recreation by encouraging appropriate behaviour at all times. Implementation of the Code will ensure that community sport remains safe and inclusive for all.

Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) the statutory authority which is administering the Code will be in contact with your Club.

SRV will be able to provide your Club with a range of resources and assistance to implement, promote and encourage adherence to the Code by all (including but not limited to DVDs, Posters, etc.). The information kit will assist clubs in promoting the importance of good player and spectator behaviour in community sport. Clubs are also encouraged to seek further information or assistance from SRV should they wish to know more about the Code of Conduct.

Clubs, and all Club Associates, are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the ROC, in particular the provisions with respect to the Code.

The Code now forms part of the ROC so breaches of such may result in charges, and other penalties, in accordance with the stipulations of the Grievance Disciplinary and Tribunal By-Law (GDT) which can be accessed at: http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/content.aspx?file=7250|19599l . Breaches will be dealt with decisively. Furthermore, beyond FFV sanctions, breaches of the Code may jeopardise your Club’s application for grants, and financial support from statutory authorities.

Should you have any general queries about the Rules of Competition, or with respect to any changes, please contact: Tim Frampton, General Manager – Football, at tframpton@footballfedvic.com.au or on (03) 9474 1824.

The Federation would like to wish all Clubs, and Club Associates, a safe and successful 2010 football season.
